Uta Koloczek (Germany)

With her gang of colorful and exquisite Chihuahuas and pugs Uta Koloczek reclaims the territory of porcelain figurines. Her eccentric animal figures make a humorous and luxurious everyday accessory, intriguing avid porcelain collectors and younger folks alike.
Similarity to nature is not Uta Koloczek’s main concern. Her creatures vary from frog-green polka dotted to Dalmatian speckled. Eccentricity and exaggeration are the qualities that give these doggies such charm and distinction. The basic model varies in eight different designs and can be combined with accessories such as a golden pile of dog poop or various pillow-like pedestals. Uta Koloczek’s appreciation for details can also be seen in elaborate hand painted gold patterns and underglaze decorations.   The artist’s touch and the versatility of accessories assure that each piece is unique and personal.
With this modern adaptation Uta Koloczek is continuing the tradition of manufactured figurines.
